So I’ll break it down for you for real quick gang, this project went wildly differently than I planned. First of all, I should make it clear, as I’ve stated before I consider myself a story teller, the reason I mention this is that this project ended up being much more of a life story than I expected. When I began composing all of this, I realized that while I may not be able to make sick graphics or some fancy canva I can always fall back onto what I know which is making a compelling story. So that’s what I did, rather than focus on what I was bad at (technology) I focused on a narrative I could string together. Selecting the photos, I realized that spliced together they could weave a very personal and venerable story of self-hatred together so bingo bango we were in business. The reason I went with the pictures I did is that they worked together perfectly. Each one was a photo that I presented as happy, something that I wanted the world to see, but in reality, they were all something that hurt me, something put up to hide something else. I used the photos as cornerstones in constructing my overall narrative. I went with a PowerPoint for two big reasons; one I think the ability to have the photos mirror one another and share resemblance but still be on separate screens as their own entity was advantageous to our narrative. And two I know how to use PowerPoint, so it was simple. I went with a black and white color scheme partially because I think it looks clean but also in large part because what I think it says about me. Black and white reads professional, it reads intelligent, it’s sleek, but also I think that if we wanna get metaphorical it works. I mean a lot of my story is about how I wasn’t what I was portraying myself to be. Everything wasn’t as black and white as it seemed, I wasn’t some suave straight boy and I wasn’t as cool with my insecurities as I wanted people to think. There was more there, there’s something to unpack so I think the alternating of black kind of gives that off in my mind at least, but idk I may be reaching. Also, in all honesty I put black into nearly everyone of my designs as I adore it as a color, so I really do just have to stick to my brand. In terms of typeface I went with it because I thought it was clean, looked smart, and didn’t distract from the phots which I wanted to be the focal point. Overall I really wanted to use this project as an opportunity for people to get to know me. I wanted to show myself and also my skills in this quick little assignment, while I’m hoping to refine my digital skills I also want to hone my craft as a writer for this class so it seemed like a prime opportunity.
